KMP has the ability to communicate with external programs. This capability is still rudimentary, but is a foundation to build on. An example of this is the ability to inquire of KMP the IP addresses it is aware of. So, for example, the author has written a simple little program, similar to the "ipconfig" program that comes with the operating system, that displays the external (WAN) address of the router.
